Bob Roberts, written and directed by Tim Robbins is a fine bit of film-making, showing a British documentary film-maker following the rise of a country singer and his aspirations to the Pennsylvania senate race. It seems that "all's fair in politics " and the public be dammed. Tim Robbins is excellent as Bob Roberts.

Alan Rickman plays Lukas Hart III and a fine job he does. But I do miss his beautiful English accent. When he is on screen, he has a personal magnetism that fills the screen. There is just not enough of him, we Rickman fans want more.

Watch for many cameo roles, John Cusak, Susan Sarandon and more. This film is worth seeing just to see Alan Rickman, I give it five hands for the best film I have seen of its type.

Fausta thanks Franny for her review.
Rickmaniacs are advised that Mr. Rickman is only sporadically on screen, since the enigmatic Lucas Hart is a character shrouded in secrets that hold the key to Bob’s true character. Pennsylvania natives will recognize many of the locations. Bob Roberts is available for rental
