Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban

Scheduled to open on June 4, 2004; the premiere is Sunday, May 23 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

The trailer's now on line, and playing on TV and movie theaters. Dawn, Mhairi, Manuela, and Valerie sent links. The largest screen & the best sound are at The Movie Box (Quicktime). Lots of Snape in it, and his hair even looks better. You can also find the trailers at the official website and at Coming Soon Net.

May 20: Julie sent us the following:

About the Harry Potter TV premiere, on May 9, 2004, with extra scenes and a preview of 'Prisoner of Azkaban':
The extended scenes really filled out the movie and fleshed out moments that were otherwise awkward. For example (and the one that sticks in my mind), the first time Harry takes his potions class: the scene usually cuts right after Professor Snape says that 'Fame isn't everything' or some such. However, the scene extends to Harry snapping back at Professor Snape and telling him that Hermione obviously knows the answers to the questions. Professor Snape comes to sit in front of Harry, telling Hermione to 'lower your hand, you silly girl' and giving the answers to Harry. He walks back to his desk and takes '5 points from Gryffindor for a student's cheek'.
Lots of behind the scenes of the first movie with the 3 mains actors (Daniel Radcliffe, Ruper Grint and Emma Watson) talking about their experience making the movie. Very fun.

Stacey and Manuela sent the following,

Hogwarts' flaky fortune teller has found a face, according to the Herald Sun, with Emma Thompson scheduled to gaze into her crystal ball in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
The quite clearly fraudulent professor Trelawney is tasked with teaching Harry and his friends the finer arts of tea leaf-reading, palmistry and other prescient arts, her pretence occasionally disrupted by the odd genuine vision. A small role to be sure but Emma Thompson does seem an excellent choice to fit the part. Joining Gary Oldman, Julie Christie and the already august Hogwarts faculty, Thompson is certainly in good company among what must be the most impressive Potter line-up yet.
Valerie wrote to say that Alfonso Cuaron has been selected to direct Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, which, acording to the Reuters article, "will reunite principal cast members from both Sorcerer's Stone and the upcoming Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets". Rickman fans will remember that Mr. Cuaron directed in 1993 Murder, Obliquely, which to this day remains my favorite AR film. Michael Gambon's the next Dumbledore.
